Installation of pumps

Careful attention should be paid when installing pumps for septic or basement drains.

The picture below was chosen as an example because it shows a faulty pump installation.

Paying close attention to detail will lengthen the life of the pump. Most pumps should last over ten years and it is becoming common to hear of homeowners who say their pump has lasted 20 years! This doesn't happen by accident. Proper installation is the key to long lasting pumps!

The pump below shows the pump off level, below the top of the pump. This off level pump should be above the top of the pump for several reasons. Scaling will occur more frequently when air is introduced to the sides of the pump. This build up around the pump will cause the pump to run at hotter temperatures and premature pump failure is likely to occur.
